Jack. I do know that. -- How much you want?
-- I cannot waste money.
Lulu. Will you not stay all night with me, Sir?
Jack. No. I haven't time. I am married man.
Lulu. You say, you missed the last bus and that
you have spent the night with one of your friends.
Jack. How much do you want?
Lulu. Pound.
Jack. Good evening. (Will gehen.)
Lulu (hält ihn zurück). Stay, stay!
Jack (geht an der Geschwitz vorbei und öffnet den Verschlag).
Why wish you, that I stay here all night? -- That is
suspicious! When I am sleeping, you will file my
pockets!
Lulu. I don't do that. Don't leave, Sir! I im-
plore you!
Jack. How much do you want?
Lulu. Give me eight shillings.
Jack. That is too much. -- You are a beginner?
Lulu. I am just starting to-day. (Sie wirft die
Geschwitz, die sich gegen Jack aufgerichtet hat, zu Boden.)
Jack. Let her go! -- That is not your sister.
She loves you.
(Streichelt der Geschwitz den Kopf.) Poor
beast!
--
Lulu. O, I would like, you would stay with me
all night!
Jack. Did you ever have a child?
Lulu. No, Sir. Never. But I was a nice looking
woman.
Jack. Have you a friend living with you?
Lulu. We are all alone, Sir.
Jack (mit dem Fuß stampfend). Who is living down
below?
Jack. I do know that. — How much you want?
— I cannot waste money.
