Th. IV. Sect. III. Num. III. D. Hoffmanns streit wider die Philosophie.
[Spaltenumbruch] sten damals gewesen. Unter andern hat er p.
529. u. f. nachgehendes Carmen gesetzet:

Ininclyta quae Julia.
Sit orta controversia,
Quicunque vultis discere,
Rhythmis meis attendite.
En, quatuor Philosophi,
Prae caeteris industrii:
Kesselius, Liddelius,
Ovenus & Cornelius:
Hi non diu deliberant,
Rem protinus sed inchoant,
Porphyrii perutilem
Plantare tendunt arborem:
Etsomniant, quod cominus
Pertingat astra frondibus,
Mox aestuant conscendere
Ad usque coelum mobile.
Visum quid occultissimus
Agat Jehovae spiritus,
Num mens DEI quam maxime
Consentiat cum Socrate?
Suis caro num viribus
Id noverit, quod spiritus?
Carnalis an scientia
Intelligat coelestia?
Humana num prudentia
Rebus sacris sit congrua?
Idemne verum sit DEO,
Verum videtur quod sopho?
Num par fides sit Daemonis,
Et Christiani pectoris?
Communis an his notio
Sit mentis & conceptio?
Si scriptitent Apostoli,
Increduli, vel Ethnici:
Unus Deus Justissimus
AEternus est & optimus.
Utrinque num sit veritas,
Totalis ac identitas?
Mendace seu de Daemone,
Num possit hoc quis dicere?
Sophis ibi sedentibus,
Divina somniantibus,
Arcana pensitantibus
Falsoque gloriantibus.
Hofmannus ecce Daniel,
DEO ministrans Israel,
Hanc subruebat arborem,
Sophi cadunt in pulverem.
Ostrina Malchi suppara
Prolapsa sunt in stercora,
Ut sordeant mortalibus
Altissimum colentibus.
Proinde sunt Philosophi
Furore tanto perciti,
Ut persequantur candidum
Virtute praestantem virum.
Sexa -- senex -- genarius
Habetur adversarius,
Exinde quod salubria
Docere praestat dogmata.
Potente verbo protulit,
Pagella quae nunc subjicit:
A seculi scientia
Discreta sunt oracula.
Humana quid scientia?
Annon furens dementia?
Necillud est innoxium,
Quod aestimetur optimum?
[Spaltenumbruch] Carnalis est scientia
Semper DEO contraria;
Abstrusa sacra Mystica
Sunt captui non consona:
Carnalis id non percipit
Homo, Deus quod praecipit:
Sophis id est absconditum,
At parvulis concreditum.
Quod Socrates pronunciat,
Non CHristus illud approbat:
Est CHristus ipsa veritas,
Et Ethnici sunt vanitas.
Boans fides est daemoni,
Boans fideli pectori.
Fides quid & scientia,
DEI carentsi gloria?
Proh! Daemonis quae veritas!
Horrenda nonne falsitas?
Mentitur hostis omnia,
Dicat licet verissima.
Satan pater mendacii
Fons omnis actus subdoli,
Mendax agit fallaciter,
Quicquid facit, fit nequiter.
Omnino mendax dicitur,
Homo nisi renascitur.
Innata lucis claritas
Est summa mentis caecitas.
Carnalis ipsa veritas
Est ima cordis falsitas.
Idcirco non cognoscere
DEum potest, nec credere.
Sophi dolent Noemata,
Quod vana sint & irrita,
Adversus adversarium
Anceps adornant praelium.
In disputationibus,
Exercitationibus,
Ludunt meris sermonibus
Et criminationibus.
Exordium calumnia,
Est finis impudentia;
Obscurior si quaestio,
Cachinnus est solutio:
Agunt sophi sopistice,
Hofmannus autem candide,
Hic sacro-sancta dogmata,
Illi docendo scandala.
Nihil ferax audacia,
Nil obtinet fallacia:
Hofmannus instat acriter,
Verum tueturfortiter.
Invicta nam constantia,
Nec frangitur calumnia,
Illaesa conscientia
Parvi facit mendacia.
Hic carnis est mos impius,
Odisse mentem spiritus,
Quod coepit in primordiis,
Et durat hisce seculis.
Apostolis & vatibus
Ni contigisset omnibus,
Perferre carnis scommata,
Quaenam forent solatia?
Narraborem, quae nomine
Quadrabit huc, & omine,
Et edocebit praelium
Carnale contra spiritum.
Propheta sanctus Daniel,
Deum celebrat Israel,

[469/0777] Th. IV. Sect. III. Num. III. D. Hoffmanns ſtreit wider die Philoſophie. ſten damals geweſen. Unter andern hat er p. 529. u. f. nachgehendes Carmen geſetzet: Ininclyta quæ Julia. Sit orta controverſia, Quicunque vultis diſcere, Rhythmis meis attendite. En, quatuor Philoſophi, Præ cæteris induſtrii: Keſſelius, Liddelius, Ovenus & Cornelius: Hi non diu deliberant, Rem protinus ſed inchoant, Porphyrii perutilem Plantare tendunt arborem: Etſomniant, quod cominus Pertingat aſtra frondibus, Mox æſtuant conſcendere Ad usque cœlum mobile. Viſum quid occultiſſimus Agat Jehovæ ſpiritus, Num mens DEI quam maxime Conſentiat cum Socrate? Suis caro num viribus Id noverit, quod ſpiritus? Carnalis an ſcientia Intelligat cœleſtia? Humana num prudentia Rebus ſacris ſit congrua? Idemne verum ſit DEO, Verum videtur quod ſopho? Num par fides ſit Dæmonis, Et Chriſtiani pectoris? Communis an his notio Sit mentis & conceptio? Si ſcriptitent Apoſtoli, Increduli, vel Ethnici: Unus Deus Juſtiſſimus Æternus eſt & optimus. Utrinque num ſit veritas, Totalis ac identitas? Mendace ſeu de Dæmone, Num poſſit hoc quis dicere? Sophis ibi ſedentibus, Divina ſomniantibus, Arcana penſitantibus Falſoque gloriantibus. Hofmannus ecce Daniel, DEO miniſtrans Iſrael, Hanc ſubruebat arborem, Sophi cadunt in pulverem. Oſtrina Malchi ſuppara Prolapſa ſunt in ſtercora, Ut ſordeant mortalibus Altiſſimum colentibus. Proinde ſunt Philoſophi Furore tanto perciti, Ut perſequantur candidum Virtute præſtantem virum. Sexa — ſenex — genarius Habetur adverſarius, Exinde quod ſalubria Docere præſtat dogmata. Potente verbo protulit, Pagella quæ nunc ſubjicit: A ſeculi ſcientia Diſcreta ſunt oracula. Humana quid ſcientia? Annon furens dementia? Necillud eſt innoxium, Quod æſtimetur optimum? Carnalis eſt ſcientia Semper DEO contraria; Abſtruſa ſacra Myſtica Sunt captui non conſona: Carnalis id non percipit Homo, Deus quod præcipit: Sophis id eſt abſconditum, At parvulis concreditum. Quod Socrates pronunciat, Non CHriſtus illud approbat: Eſt CHriſtus ipſa veritas, Et Ethnici ſunt vanitas. Boans fides eſt dæmoni, Boans fideli pectori. Fides quid & ſcientia, DEI carentſi gloria? Proh! Dæmonis quæ veritas! Horrenda nonne falſitas? Mentitur hoſtis omnia, Dicat licet veriſſima. Satan pater mendacii Fons omnis actus ſubdoli, Mendax agit fallaciter, Quicquid facit, fit nequiter. Omnino mendax dicitur, Homo niſi renaſcitur. Innata lucis claritas Eſt ſumma mentis cæcitas. Carnalis ipſa veritas Eſt ima cordis falſitas. Idcirco non cognoſcere DEum poteſt, nec credere. Sophi dolent Noemata, Quod vana ſint & irrita, Adverſus adverſarium Anceps adornant prælium. In diſputationibus, Exercitationibus, Ludunt meris ſermonibus Et criminationibus. Exordium calumnia, Eſt finis impudentia; Obſcurior ſi quæſtio, Cachinnus eſt ſolutio: Agunt ſophi ſopiſticè, Hofmannus autem candidè, Hic ſacro-ſancta dogmata, Illi docendo ſcandala. Nihil ferax audacia, Nil obtinet fallacia: Hofmannus inſtat acriter, Verum tueturfortiter. Invicta nam conſtantia, Nec frangitur calumnia, Illæſa conſcientia Parvi facit mendacia. Hic carnis eſt mos impius, Odiſſe mentem ſpiritus, Quod cœpit in primordiis, Et durat hiſce ſeculis. Apoſtolis & vatibus Ni contigiſſet omnibus, Perferre carnis ſcommata, Quænam forent ſolatia? Narraborem, quæ nomine Quadrabit huc, & omine, Et edocebit prælium Carnale contra ſpiritum. Propheta ſanctus Daniel, Deum celebrat Iſrael, Tam N n n 3
